The above photo spans 105 days and includes 98.4 miles ran, 91 hours of Jiu-Jitsu trained, 36 hours of Functional Fitness, 34.8 hours of prayer, 15 hours of Yoga/Recovery, and an extreme amount of self-discipline to stick to a diet that includes 0 cheat meals for the entire time.
105 days ago, the man of the left ran a 5k in an hour and could only perform 17 push-ups, 0 pull-ups, and lacked the courage to embrace ALL the hard things in life. He knew about self-worth but was afraid to let anyone know his. He allowed a job to define his worth, and other people tell him who he needed to be. This guy was confused, uninitiated, and dangerous, but not for good.
Fast forward to the man on the right; he can now run a 5K in 29 minutes(and has ran 6 miles in the same hour it took for the first 5k), he can perform 50 push-ups, 3 pull-ups, and is finding the courage to embrace ALL the hard things. He had the courage to walk away from a place that held him down and didn't allow him to bring his strengths to the team. Through hours of prayer he's learned to ask for what he needs and is okay with it. He's found his strength again and is becoming dangerous for GOOD!
As I consistently instill discipline in my physical life, it has given me the edge to attack my mental health with the same tenacity.
If you are out there experiencing a dark day, week, month or year. What is the right next step you can take to get you on the path of freedom? Here's a hint: It's probably the thing that will bring the most pain and ask for the utmost self-discipline from you.
